---As part of his support of Early and Migrant Head Start programs that serve infants and toddlers with significant disabilities and their families, Steve Hilton, President of the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, pays a visit to the Charles R. Drew University Mary B. Henry Head Start Program.

The mission of the Hilton/Early Head Start Training Program is to support Early Head Start (EHS) and Migrant and Seasonal Head Start (MSHS) staff, and family members, in collaboration with Early Intervention, Head Start, and Child Care to develop skills and strategies for accessing and using services, resources, and technology to include infants and toddlers with significant disabilities and their families in EHS/MSHS programs.

Over a ten-year period (1997-2007), the Hilton Foundation, in a public-private partnership with the Administration for Children and Families’ Head Start Bureau, pledged to contribute $18.7 million toward intensive training programs for teachers and parents that will improve services to underserved children. Over 500 communities serving more than 6,500 children per year will complete the training.  The Drew University Head Start program (including pre-school and Early Head Start) has a current enrollment of over 1700 children in its 21 centers for the school year 2005-2006.
