  National High School Student Summer Research Apprentice Program (NHSSSRAP)

Qualifications and Requirements
 
 
  1. The applicant must have a “B” or better grade point average.
  2. Applicant must be an Undergraduate Student, or a High School Student in
    10th through 12th grade, at the time of the application due date.
  3. Completion of Application Form and Application Essay.
  4. Signed Parental Consent Form for applicants under the age of 18.
  5. Official copy of transcripts.
  6. Completion of W-9 form.
  7. The applicant agrees with his/her mentor to work an agreed upon number of hours during
    the training period. Because the training period is brief, the program cannot accommodate applicants wishing to pause during their training for vacation, etc.
 
 
Criteria for Applicant Evaluation:
 
 

Applicants will be evaluated on their abstracts, transcripts (with particular emphasis placed on grades in science coursework), ability to perform necessary tasks, quality of preparation relating to the chosen project, quality of writing and communication skills, clarity of purpose, and interest in biomedical research.

 
  Scope of support:  
 

The successful applicant will receive a stipend of $1,800.00. The stipend will be disbursed as per hours worked. Applicants will notified of payment dates upon acceptance in the program.
