The Radiation Safety Program serves as a guide for the handling of radio nuclides, radiation producing devices, and general radiation safety for students and personnel employed at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science.

 
 

Use of these guidelines will insure compliance to State and Federal radiation safety practices and this programs effectiveness depends upon everyone's cooperation. Detailed policy and procedures for radiation safety are outlined in the Radiation Safety Handbook. These procedures should be used in conjunction
with any additional license conditions, the California Radiation Control Regulations, Title 17, California Administrative Code, Chapter 5, Sub-chapter 4,and Regulations from 10CFR20, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Copies of these regulations are available for review in the Office of Ed Assanah, Department of Research, Room 3070, 3rd Floor Hawkins Building.

This Radiation Safety Program underscores our commitment to the mission of Drew University. Please follow the recommendations of this program and use the radiation safety practices.

  RADIATION MONITORING BADGES

 
  All individuals working with, or in, an area near radioactive materials or radiation producing machines for more than 10 hours per week, shall wear a radiation monitoring badge. The following individuals are in charge of the monthly radiation badge distribution and collection:
